After Sunset and Before Sunrise

Kent Mason, Photographer / Conservationist

On a clear moonless night in Dolly Sods Wilderness, the stars are so numerous that it is difficult to pick out major constellations. The Milky-Way shows tremendous detail to the naked eye because of the lack of light pollution, the elevation, and clearness/darkness of the air. On the other hand, during full moon on a clear night it seems very bright without light pollution. Although I have not focused on night photography, this gallery contains some examples of the potential that exists.
